Locally Bought Produce & Sustainability

The saying goes; “give a man a fish and he will eat for a day”, but if you look after your natural sources and ensure sustainability, there’s enough for everyone, forever.

The Osborne family have been fishing the Thames Estuary since 1880, selling cockles along the famous cocklesheds of Leigh-on-Sea, where we’re still open for business today.

With over 100 years’ experience of supplying delicious seafood, we take the matter of sourcing our produce seriously.

We use our own boats and processing methods for some products, ensuring that the business remains firmly in the family, with fifth generation Osbornes still running it today.

Wherever possible we try to ensure that our fish and shellfish is caught in a sustainable and ecological manner, using independent or local suppliers where we can. We are also conscious about the impact our own packaging has on the environment. We have recently moved to using Vegware for our products and are looking to source other more environmentally responsible packaging on other lines.
